Digital technologies are transforming business, our economy, and our society faster and more deeply than ever before. They are creating unprecedented wealth, underpinning innovation in all sectors, converting science fiction into everyday reality, and bringing a great many benefits to people throughout the world. In short, there is a new industrial revolution taking place driven by hardware, software, and networks - and as usual, MIT is at the forefront.
Research at the Institute has also been instrumental in highlighting the challenges we’ll face as we move deeper into a computerized, interlinked economy. As technology races ahead it is leaving many people behind, a phenomenon reflected in current statistics about inequality, mobility, and unemployment. Choices we make now are important - they will shape how technology’s benefits will flow throughout society.
This event will highlight MIT’s role in both understanding and shaping our digital economy. We will feature the award-winning research of our faculty, the contributions of our alumni, and the perspectives of some of the most influential people in the Digital Economy. Harnessing the potential of digital technologies is both the greatest opportunity and grandest challenge of our generation, and for MIT in particular. Please join us in San Francisco on January 18 to participate in discussions that are sure to engage your intellect, broaden your perspective, challenge your preconceptions, and ignite your imagination. In other words, to do all the things that MIT does so well.
Please join us on January 18 for a celebration of innovation, technology, and the Institute.
